Uruguay "A country that you need to know"






*Uruguay is a country of South America.
*It´s located at the southern end, limiting the West with Argentina and the North with Brazil. 

*The most influential of the place is the river "Rio Uruguay", the same that is used for communication with neighboring countries.


*It has an area of 176 000km2 and it´s population is 3.29 million habitants. 

*The country is divided into 19 departments and 89 municipalities.



*The capital city is "Montevideo".


*It´s a country with regular weather condisiones, since its temperature is between 17 ° C, this due to its geographical location in the temperate zone.


*The Uruguayan territory is almost completely leveled, since no significant elevations of land, usually is located 0-10 m, with the exception of Cerro Catedral at 513 m.

*The country's economy is dominated mainly by export-oriented agricultural sector.


*It is an agricultural exporter of rice, wheat, corn, sunflower, sogro, barley, soybeans, sugar cane. Also is Livestock of Cattle and Sheep.


* The main industries are: Dairy, Textile, cardboard, paper, alcohol, cement, oil refinery.


*The language spoken in Uruguay is Spanish, also spoken in some border regions Portuguese.

*The official currency is the "Uruguayan peso"


*Uruguay has tourist destinations that stand between Punta del Este, Montevideo, Colonia del Sacramento, Salto, Lavalleja and Rocha among others. 
*Punta del Este is the most visited compared to other spas, but also 
tourists seek other coastal destinations such as Atlantis or Piriapolis, among others.


*It´s a hospitable country currently residing foreigners from the European continent mostly also in Asia and to a lesser percentage of America.



*Uruguayan cuisine is varied, due to migration of the place. However, being an exporter of beef predominate foods derived from livestock, including beef and rump is, roast, ribs, offal, chitterlings, udder, tongue and gizzard. (Barbecue)
*As for drinks stands a typical site (Grappamiel) is native to Uruguay alcoholic beverage and involves mixing grappa and honey. It is obtained from the distillation of marc and lees from the fermentation of the grapes and then mixed with pure natural honey bee.

*The Uruguayan government is secular, with absolute freedom of religion. Church and state are officially separated.
